The Rainbow Massage is a children’s Story Massage for parents and primary aged children. The sequence of back massage strokes are done over clothes on the child’s back. Each stroke is very simple and children can also learn the routine to practise with their siblings. The routine is taught alongside a story about a Rainbow.
This routine has been especially designed by the Massage in Schools Programme to be taught online and only during the Lockdown period – it really is a unique and one-off opportunity!
The Massage in Schools Programme is an international organisation bringing peer massage to primary schools across the world. I visit lots of local schools, especially during the summer months during school’s Health Weeks often, teaching the full Programme or some simple Story Massage in one-off sessions.
There are so many benefits of massage between peers and siblings and from parents – my favourite being that parents who regularly massage their children experience better quality sleep! On a more serious note, children relax during massage and can often talk more openly about how they are feeling. It’s the same reason why many of us over-share with our hair stylist or beautician. I could go on forever about the benefits of simple story massage but I’ll let you find out more for yourselves.
Book your Rainbow Massage place here. These classes for families only run during home learning periods via Zoom. Groups are really small so don’t delay in securing your place.
